Saudi Arabia, Switzerland sign deal on promotion and reciprocal protection of investments

Saudi Arabia and Switzerland recently signed an agreement on the promotion and reciprocal protection of investments. The deal was signed on the Saudi side by Minister of Investment Fahad Al-Saif, and on the Swiss side by President of the Swiss Confederation Guy Parmelin.

The agreement was signed at the conclusion of the Saudi-Swiss Investment Roundtable Meeting in Jeddah, which saw the participation of President of the Swiss Confederation Guy Parmelin, Minister of Foreign Affairs Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah and Minister of Investment Fahad Al-Saif.

The roundtable also witnessed the participation of the State Secretary for Economic Affairs of the Swiss Confederation Helene Budliger Artieda, along with a large number of officials and business leaders from both sides.

Deal to support the flow of mutual investments

The investment protection agreement between Saudi Arabia and Switzerland aims to strengthen and stabilize the investment environment, protect investors’ rights and support the flow of mutual investments between the two countries.

The meeting was attended by Saudi Ambassador to the Swiss Confederation and the Principality of Liechtenstein Abdulrahman Aldawood.

During the Saudi-Swiss Investment Roundtable Meeting, the two sides reviewed joint investment opportunities, discussed ways to strengthen economic cooperation between the two countries and explored the development of partnerships in priority sectors in a manner that supports economic growth and enhances relations.

The meeting was held on the sidelines of the official visit of the President of the Swiss Confederation to the Kingdom, as the two countries mark 70 years of diplomatic relations that have, from the outset, helped lay the foundations of cooperation and build a partnership based on mutual respect and the development of shared interests between the two friendly countries.

Saudi Arabia, Switzerland explore expanding cooperation in key fields

Ahead of hosting the Saudi-Swiss Investment Roundtable Meeting, His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, met in Jeddah with President of the Swiss Confederation Guy Parmelin.

The two sides reviewed aspects of Saudi-Swiss cooperation across various fields and identified promising opportunities to develop it, particularly in investment. They also discussed issues of mutual interest, recent developments at the regional and international levels and coordinated efforts on these issues.

The meeting was attended by Deputy Governor of Makkah Region Prince Saud bin Mishaal bin Abdulaziz; Minister of Foreign Affairs Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah; Minister of State, Member of the Cabinet, and National Security Advisor Dr. Musaed Al-Aiban; Governor of the Public Investment Fund Yasir Al-Rumayyan; Minister of Investment Fahad Al-Saif; and Saudi Ambassador to the Swiss Confederation Abdulrahman A-Dawood.

From the Swiss side, the meeting was attended by State Secretary for Economic Affairs Helene Budliger; Swiss Ambassador to the Kingdom Yasmine Chatila; National Security Advisor Gabriel Luchinger; and a number of officials.
