Algeria
Talks of a full free trade agreement between the two nations have frequently surfaced, seen as increasingly necessary and strongly recommended by their major partner, the European Union.
In July 2025, the European Union officially initiated a dispute settlement procedure against Algeria within the framework of their association agreement. This move follows several years of commercial tensions, especially over imports, investments, and Algeria’s industrial strategy. Behind this legal dispute lies a deeper questioning of the asymmetric relations between Europe and its southern neighbors.
Algeria now becomes the 18th country of presence for PAPSS, marking a significant step in advancing Africa’s journey towards deeper financial integration. Algeria’s accession to PAPSS comes at a moment when the nation prepares to host the Intra-African Trade Fair 2025 (IATF2025) from September 4-10 2025 in Algiers, Algeria.
