The Hong Kong government is looking to finalise a free trade agreement with Peru, as Chief Executive John Lee heads to the South American nation to attend the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (Apec) leaders’ meeting.
Peru and China will sign an updated free-trade agreement during Chinese President Xi Jinping’s upcoming visit to the Andean nation that would boost commerce by at least 50 per cent between the countries, Peru’s foreign minister said.
Negotiations are temporarily on hold even for the FTAs where talks have been initiated but are not at an advanced stage, like Peru and Chile, but could continue if approval comes from the top.
