Korea-US FTA working level talks facing difficulties
The working-level talks to solve the outstanding issues with regards to the free trade agreement between Korea and the United States are facing great difficulties.
The two sides have yet to agree upon an official date and also failed to find a middle ground during informal meetings.
According to the trade ministry on Sunday, officials from both countries met in France last week, but it ended with the US merely suggesting unofficial ideas regarding automobile and beef issues without putting forth an official stance or request.
Meanwhile, Korea reaffirmed that the trade pact, signed 3 years ago, cannot be revised and that the beef issue is a separate matter from the Korea-US FTA.
