Foreign Ministry Calls for Speedy Ratification of Korea-U.S. FTA

(Arirang News) The Foreign Ministry has again urged National Assembly lawmakers to pass the Korea-U.S. free trade agreement as soon as possible.
The agreement has been awaiting approval since last year, due to strong opposition from civic groups delaying passage of the bill.
In a press briefing, Deputy Trade Minister Ahn Ho-young stressed the need for swift ratification of the FTA in order to encourage the U.S. to follow suit.
He said the free trade pact would serve the best interests of both sides and dismissed the possibility of renegotiation.
