EU-India FTA negotiations: DNP+ letter to Karel De Gucht, EC
Commissioner for Trade
The 14th round of negotiations on the EU-India FTA is being held in
New Delhi (5 – 9 December) at the Commerce Ministry (Udyog Bhawan)
between officials from the European Commission and the Indian
Government. DNP+ has wrriten to the EC Commissioner of Trade regarding
the status of negotiations on Intellectual Property (IP) and
investment provisions in the negotiations with India. See the letter
at: http://donttradeourlivesaway.files.wordpress.com/2011/12/dec-2011-letter-to-ec_final_pdf.pdf
Why did DNP+ hold a protest in front of the Indian Commerce Ministry today?
The EC in fact is now trying to bring back data exclusivity into the
negotiations. In addition our concerns on IP enforcement provisions
and investment provisions have not been addressed.

See photos of the protest at:

DNP+ believes that IP should be completely be removed from the trade
negotiations.
