EEC, Jordan discussed possibility of signing free trade agreement
The possibility of establishing a preferential trade zone was discussed by Andrey Slepnev, the Minister in charge of Trade of the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC), and Yarub Qudah, the Minister of Industry, Trade, and Supply of Jordan, sb.by reports citing the EEC Trade Policy Department.
On June 23rd, during a video conference, Mr. Slepnev and Mr. Qudah agreed to establish a joint research group to explore the possibility of signing a free trade agreement.
“The Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) and its member countries highly value building mutually beneficial relationships with Middle Eastern countries. We view Jordan as a promising partner in the region, and there are good prospects for expanding trade-economic co-operation between the EAEU and Jordan,” Mr. Slepnev stated.
At present, the EAEU has signed and implemented free trade agreements with Vietnam (since 2016) and Serbia (since 2021). A comprehensive free trade agreement with Iran came into effect in May 2025. Additionally, the EAEU has signed similar agreements with Indonesia, Mongolia, and the United Arab Emirates.
